When you are first setting up a new blog, it is important to set up a new email address to give people a way to reach you. Let’s explore How To Get a Professional Email for Your New Blog.

So you may be thinking…Why not just use a regular gmail or other type of email address? There are actually 2 answers for this.

  1. You need a professional email address that is linked to your blog host to even get a decent email service provider by which you will email your readers who subscribe to your blog. (I use Mailerlite to email my subscribers and they require a professional email to prevent spam.)
  2. You need to avoid spam and start treating your new blog professionally like the business it is. Emails that come from a personal email address (like a gmail address) often get tagged as spam, and your subscribers may not get the emails you work so hard to create.

I use Bigscoots.com for my blog hosting, so I have free email provided through Bigscoots.

How To Get a Professional Email for Your New Blog

To get to your email options on Bigscoots, you go to your WordPress Dashboard/WPO portal. From there, you’ll see the email option at the bottom left of the menu. Click “email”. It looks like the photo below.

Then click “add new email” at the top right of your screen. See the photo below. You will then get to select how you want it to read: contactme@nameofyourblog.com.

You will have to remember to check your email routinely and reply to readers as needed. I try to check mine once a day.

After you create a new email successfully, you can add it to your new blog by adding a new Contact Me/Us page to your website.

So what about your email service provider? If you have already selected an email service provider to send emails to your subscribers, you will have to add your new business email address to the “from” or “sender” portion before you send emails to your list. I personally use Mailerlite. If you choose Mailerlite and sign up through my link, you get a $20 credit. They have free plans with limited features and paid plans. They are by far the cheapest email service provider out there. I have tried other, so I know.
