Although my first blog, deemiddleton.com, is primarily devoted to organizing your home, I am often asked about ways that full time moms can earn a living from home. Today, I’m going to teach you an easy way to monetize your blog and make money blogging from Day 1. It’s easy to do and it doesn’t require a certain number of page views or site visitors.

Make money blogging online

It’s called Google Adsense. It is free to sign up, and I’ll walk you through the steps. So, what is Google Adsense? It is Google’s free service to website owners where Google uses the space on your blog to display ads.

You, as a blog owner, simply give Google permission to display ads on your site. You do not need any technical knowledge to do so. You just sign up and give them permission. In exchange, they pay you for the ad space.

The more page views or clicks you get, the greater the earning potential for you. Best of all, you don’t have to do anything to display or post these ads. Google does it all for you. You simply give them permission by signing up.

Here are the steps I took to enable Google Adsense on my website. I use the wordpress.org platform, so it may be different for you, depending on who you use to publish your website. If you use a wordpress.org blog, you need to download the plugin: Google Site Kit. You will also want to sign up for Google Analytics and Google Search Console for your new blog. All of these can be configured using the Google Site Kit Plugin.

Step 1: Go to your WordPress Dashboard

Step 2: Go to Plugins

Step 3: Go to Add new

Step 4: Type in Google Site kit

Step 5: Click on the Site kit plugin and then activate

When you do this you will be prompted to set up Google analytics, Google Search Console, and Google Adsense. You’ll then go through the steps to apply for all of these. Site kit will automatically configure the details to connect your site through this plugin. Once you’ve done so, you ‘ll likely receive an email confirmation once the ads are up and running. You’ll also be able to check your website where you’ll see those ads working.

So, that’s it! Easy Peasy. Google Adsense is a great way to monetize your blog or website from Day 1. It is a great and free way to get started monetizing your blog.

My only caution I have with using Google Adsense is that it is easy to accidentally click on your own ads. When you do that, even accidentally, they will suspend your account for 30 days which means you can’t display ads or earn money from during that time. Be careful not to do this. Most big ad companies will not accept you into their program if you are not in good standing with Adsense.

Because of their ad placement (which you have no control over) it is easy to accidentally click and get penalized. Many blog owners have had that happen to them as well, so many people avoid Adsense because of it. When you have more page views, you’ll want to monetize your site with a better paying ad company. Ezoic is an excellent option, but you must meet the pageview requirements. I use Mediavine.

Ideally, you should plan to upgrade to something like Mediavine once your website traffic increases, but they won’t help you if you are a new blogger. Just be patient, and stay the course.
